"The size of this Persian rug is impressive and so is the size of its borders. The main border's and field's black background as well as the Mahi design with its Herati motifs are very common features for Tabriz style Persian rugs. The Herati motif, also meaning the water garden, features a flower centered within a diamond surrounded by curved leafs parallel with the diamond lines. The image created by the centered brighter colors surrounded with black is pleasant and highly enjoyable. The field corners also feature brighter shades framing the Mahi design."
Tabriz Rugs
The rugs manufactured in the city of Tabriz also are of great finesse. Their predominant colors are red, blue and ivory.
