"Red and black are used together for their beautiful contrast effect, which is also the case for this Persian Persian rug. The Herati motifs are colored in gold and green therefore symbolizing power, wealth, hope, life and rebirth. The spring colored fish eyes have a natural appeal which invites to joy and happiness. The main border red background sustains the alternating pattern of lotus and rosette flowers surrounded by arched lanceolate leafs. This type of decoration is also a Herati representation which is specific to Tabriz style Persian rugs."
Tabriz Rugs
The rugs manufactured in the city of Tabriz also are of great finesse. Their predominant colors are red, blue and ivory. They offer strong contrasts in the rug’s image but also inspire serenity and beauty. Most are hand-knotted on a soft cotton foundation using a combination of wool and silk. Some of them show the common floral designed central medallion. Featuring different sizes and a perfect symmetry these rugs prove the skills of those who worked to manufacture them.
