"The ivory background of this carpet offers a special brightness to the Persian rug in this picture. The carpet is a pictorial and is outlined in very intense colors. The leaves are painted in blue and outlined in navy. The flowers appear in shades of pink with red outlines or navy shades and brown. Middle edge of the carpet has a red background and is entirely crossed by Shah-Abbasi motifs. The motif contours are made in blue and brown. The entire carpet is of very good quality because it is worked entirely with wool, with 550 KPSI."
Isfahan Rugs
Isfahan has long been one of the most important manufacturing centers for Persian rugs. The rugs here are usually designed using an ivory background and the ornaments are symmetrical and balanced. We find in the central part of the rug a medallion that is surrounded by floral motifs and palmetto leaves. The quality of these rugs is very high and the colors used for the interior motifs are blue, brown, ivory, green and more, all of them featuring an obvious naturalness.
