"The design we see here is often used in the Persian rug industry from the city of Isfahan. The red background is strong and it highlights the dynamism of the Persian rug. The colors that are used inside the carpet are bright and lively. We see blue, ivory, green and red. The contours of the pomegranate flowers and also lotus and peony are skillfully made. They are symbols of fertility, reborn and power and appear often in the making of this type of Persian rugs. The inner corners are using light colors like ivory."
Isfahan Rugs
Isfahan has long been one of the most important manufacturing centers for Persian rugs. The rugs here are usually designed using an ivory background and the ornaments are symmetrical and balanced. We find in the central part of the rug a medallion that is surrounded by floral motifs and palmetto leaves. The quality of these rugs is very high and the colors used for the interior motifs are blue, brown, ivory, green and more, all of them featuring an obvious naturalness.
