"The Persian rug in this picture is very similar to others worked in the city Isfahan. It has an ivory background that is surrounded by a red middle border. The border fully capture the Shah-Abbasi motif with lotus flowers in blue and Ivory, with red outlines. The inner corners of the carpet are dark beige with floral applications as the interior of carpet. The carpet design is medallion The central medallion contains shades of red like the middle border but also navy with blue outlines. The carpetÆs image is bright and full of dynamism due to the very intense red color."
Isfahan Rugs
Isfahan has long been one of the most important manufacturing centers for Persian rugs. The rugs here are usually designed using an ivory background and the ornaments are symmetrical and balanced. We find in the central part of the rug a medallion that is surrounded by floral motifs and palmetto leaves. The quality of these rugs is very high and the colors used for the interior motifs are blue, brown, ivory, green and more, all of them featuring an obvious naturalness.
