"This carpet is worked with a blue background, very airy, bright, inviting the viewer to spiritual serenity. The interior is not very crowded. Medallion carpet design is a design often found in carpets worked in the city of Isfahan. The medallion is worked in shades of green. The color is specified to the Prophet Mohammed and symbolizes spring and a new beginning. The shades of the flowers inside the carpet are pink and light red. Middle edge of the carpet has a darker shade of blue with navy floral applications with more open contours. The edges are not fully respected in the sense that these floral applications go beyond the interior, exterior and the middle edge."
Isfahan Rugs
Isfahan has long been one of the most important manufacturing centers for Persian rugs. The rugs here are usually designed using an ivory background and the ornaments are symmetrical and balanced. We find in the central part of the rug a medallion that is surrounded by floral motifs and palmetto leaves. The quality of these rugs is very high and the colors used for the interior motifs are blue, brown, ivory, green and more, all of them featuring an obvious naturalness.
